Other features include a carousel with an array of colorful animals, a train that meanders throughout the premises and a playground. You heard that right- the piece de resistance of the zoo is a playground- kids love it. I have to admit, it is actually one of the best playgrounds around- I just think it's humorous that even if we're on vacation that's really what the kids- all age ranges- go gaga over. When you see it- you'll see what I'm talking about.

There's an amazing 'Bear' Fountain by Parducci, a 'spitting' frog water feature and an Aviary designed by famed architect Albert Kahn- both the building + the butterflies are awesome! Don't forget the gazelle and baboon sculptures + the prehistoric pterodactyl by Marshall M. Fredericks- some of my favorite pieces- totally in L-O-V-E with them.

Lions and Tigers and Beer, oh my! Head over to the Detroit Zoo on September 26 for their annual beer bash. The Zoo Brew is an annual beer festival that encourages attendees to walk and talk with the animals while enjoying a frosty adult beverage!
